Chastelain. sub. m. Celuy qui commande dans un Chasteau. En ce sens il est vieux.
Il signifie aussi, Seigneur d'une certaine estenduë de pays qui estoit autrefois commandée par un chasteau, & qui y ressortit encore pour la justice. Seigneur Chastelain d'un tel endroit.
On appelle, Juge Chastelain, Le Juge du Seigneur chastelain, & alors il est adjectif.
